How a WhatsApp link works
A wa.me link opens a chat with the phone number in its path. For example, https://wa.me/233501234567 opens a chat for that number.
Enter the full international number using digits only: include the country code, and leave out the plus sign, spaces, brackets and local trunk prefix. The optional message is URL-encoded and appears in the chat composer; the visitor still chooses whether to send it.
Where to use the link
Copy the link into a website button, email, social profile or other place where a clickable URL is supported. Test the generated link on a device with WhatsApp before sharing it widely.
The link itself does not report clicks to this tool. WhatsApp availability and the recipient’s ability to receive messages depend on their device, account and settings.
