Accounting / Multi-Currency

Sell in one currency, buy in another, and keep one base currency for the books.

Keep the original transaction amount beside the base-currency value, use dated exchange rates, lock the rate used on a foreign-currency PO and protect the base currency once financial activity exists.

Choose the base currency that the books report in

Each workspace has a base currency used for accounting and financial reporting, plus a default quote currency and a set of enabled quote currencies.

The base currency is the common denominator for the books, not a command that every customer and supplier transaction must use that currency.

Store dated exchange rates instead of one permanent conversion

Exchange-rate records include base currency, quote currency, rate, effective date and source.

Currency conversion uses the relevant rate snapshot for the transaction date, which is important when the same foreign currency is worth something different next month.

Keep customer quotes and invoices in the currency used in the sale

Quotes and invoices can store their transaction currency, the exchange rate used and related base-currency amounts.

The customer-facing commercial amount therefore remains available while Accounting still has a value it can use in the base-currency ledger.

Lock the purchase-order exchange rate for foreign-currency buying

Purchase orders can store a locked exchange-rate snapshot, exchange date, transaction currency and base-currency totals.

That gives receiving and supplier billing a consistent purchasing reference instead of silently repricing the PO every time a later exchange rate changes.

Keep supplier bills and payments in their original currency too

Supplier bills store transaction and base totals together with the rate used. Supplier payments can also keep their currency and base amount.

When a foreign-currency bill has no trustworthy historical rate, the AP workflow can flag the missing FX evidence rather than invent a conversion.

Record exchange differences when a supplier payment settles at another rate

When a supplier payment settles a foreign-currency bill at a different base-currency value, Lynka can post the realized exchange difference into Accounting.

That creates an accounting entry for the difference instead of pretending the foreign-currency amount had one value forever.

Do not casually change the base currency after financial activity begins

Lynka checks for financial, inventory, pricing, budget and bank activity before allowing the base currency to change.

Once that activity exists, an ordinary base-currency edit is blocked. A deliberate migration process is required instead, protecting historical accounting values from being reinterpreted by a settings change.

Report across currencies in one accounting view

Finance reports use the workspace base-currency values so transactions that began in different currencies can contribute to the same ledger and statements.

The original transaction currency remains available on the commercial and payment records when somebody needs to compare the accounting value with what the customer or supplier actually saw.

Lynka keeps both amounts instead of replacing the original transaction with a converted number and losing the currency and rate behind the sale or purchase.

Multi-currency accounting has two truths to preserve: the amount the customer or supplier actually saw, and the value the books need in the workspace base currency.
