Put a financial value beside the physical stock

Inventory Valuation Summary calculates positive on-hand quantity against product cost in the workspace base currency.

That gives Finance and Operations a current stock-value view without claiming that every accounting standard or costing method is automatically supported.

Let posted receiving change the cost basis for stocked products

When new stock is received, Lynka can update the product cost using the quantity already on hand, the accepted receipt quantity and the new purchase cost.

The receiving product keeps base-currency cost information and the stock movement keeps a cost basis, leaving evidence behind the cost change.

Compare recognized revenue with cost by product

Margin by Product reports recognized product revenue minus cost of goods sold over the selected period.

That is more useful than simply subtracting catalog cost from selling price because it uses the revenue and COGS recorded by the business activity being reported.

Put slow-moving stock beside the value discussion

Slow Moving Stock highlights products with stock on hand and weak recent sales activity.

A high inventory value is not automatically healthy if a large share of it is tied up in products that have not been selling.

Use movement history to explain how quantity and cost got there

Stock Movements reports quantity changes by movement type and the underlying records keep source, reference, reason and cost-basis information when available.

That gives the valuation conversation an operational trail instead of leaving Finance with only a final total.

Map product value into Accounting

Stocked products can point to inventory-asset and cost-of-goods-sold accounts. Posted fulfillment can create the inventory and COGS accounting effect for eligible delivered products.

Goods-receipt accounting also has support for received-not-invoiced inventory through the purchasing and payables flow.

Know what this valuation page does not claim

Lynka currently uses product cost with weighted receiving logic. It does not advertise FIFO, LIFO, landed-cost allocation or a menu of costing methods that are not available.

The report states what the value is based on, which is more useful than making broad claims about the number without explaining its inputs.

The value depends on the cost carried by the product

Inventory Valuation Summary uses positive stock on hand and product cost to calculate inventory value. That makes the quality of the cost record important, especially for products received at different prices over time.

Posted goods receipts can update weighted product cost using accepted quantity and a base-currency cost. The receiving history remains available behind that cost movement rather than treating the value as a number with no purchasing source.

Inventory value and product margin answer different questions

Inventory valuation asks what the stock currently represents at cost. Margin by Product looks at recognized revenue against cost of goods sold over a reporting period.

A product can therefore carry significant inventory value and still have poor sales margin, or have strong margin while too much stock is sitting unsold. Slow Moving Stock adds another view by using sales activity, quantity sold and time since the last sale.

Lynka connects product cost, stock movement, customer sales and accounting while being clear about the costing method the current product actually uses.

Counting units answers what is physically there. Valuation asks how much money is tied up in those units and what happens to that cost when the product is sold.
